FORMER NFL STAR DARION "DJ" CAMPBELL JR. IS GIVING BACK TO NEVADA IN RARE FORM.

Darion Campbell Jr, a two-time first-team All-State selection and Las Vegas alumni, has been named the Head Coach of Centennial High School's Men's Football team. Darion, who currently works as a Student Success Instructional Facilitator at the school, is excited to expand on his contributions to the school and community. Prior to joining Centennial's staff, Darion served as a Youth Parole Counselor at the Department of Children and Family Services/Youth Parole Bureau.

Darion's high school career began at Cheyenne High School in North Las Vegas, Nevada where he was a star player on the football team. As a senior cornerback, Campbell led his team with 61 tackles and had eight interceptions, including four returned for touchdowns. He was ranked by Rivals.com as the No. 3 prospect in the state.

After graduating high school, Darion received 39 scholarship offers from schools such as Arizona State, Fresno State, Nevada, UNLV, and UTEP, but he decided to play college football at the University of California Berkeley. At Cal, Campbell became a full-time starter at safety as a senior in 2011, opening all 13 contests and recording 71 tackles and two interceptions on his way to being named an honorable mention All-Pac-12.

Following his college career, Darion was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the seventh round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He also played for the Miami Dolphins, San Francisco 49ers, and Arizona Cardinals. Throughout his career, Darion played multiple positions such as QB, Safety, and DB.

Darion is a determined and dedicated coach and player, and his quote "Let your joy be in your journey—not in some distant goal" reflects his philosophy of focusing on the present and enjoying the journey, rather than just aiming for a final outcome. With his wealth of experience, Darion is poised to lead Centennial's football team to new heights.
